Sarah Decosimo Jones was raised in a Christian home. From her earliest years she learned to love God's word and to have communion with Him through prayer.
At eighteen she suffered from a serious illness that threatened her future. It was during this time of trial that Sarah began to understand Rom. 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him," even if the circumstances tell a different story.
Later, hope deepened as she walked through cancer with her young husband. Again as a young mother, God was her place of refuge as she stood at the graveside of her infant. The sorrow and pain of this life has taught Sarah to anchor her confidence in the character of God and place all of her expectation in His promises, which do not fail.
Sarah hears the cries of a hurting world. She has walked with her husband, her daughter and her friends through their battles with cancer. She has opened her home to the homeless and to those alienated from their family. She has taken in children who were orphaned. Sarah's prayer is that the hope she has been given will overflow to those around her by the power of the Holy Spirit.
A verse that has special meaning to her is Psalm 84:5-6 "Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs…” In Hebrew Baca means "a place of weeping" and Sarah's prayer is that the things God has taught her during the places of weeping will become a place of refreshment to those who follow.
